XL Bully DOGS

Latest update

EFFECTIVE FROM 12 JANUARY 2024

On 31 October 2023 the UK Government banned the XL Bully dog breed in England & Wales by adding it to the list of banned breeds under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. Further information about this update is available from many reputable sources, including the PDSA.

The ban is being applied in three stages. As a result of stage two which came into effect on 31 December 2023, the Club insurers no longer provide cover for XL Bully dogs.

It is therefore with great sadness that we are forced to exclude these dogs from our Club training sessions with immediate effect.

Our Club officers are liaising with our insurers to try and achieve a position whereby we can once again welcome XL Bully dogs to our training sessions. Should our insurance position change we will provide an update here.

In the meantime, XL Bully owners are advised not to apply for membership. Any owners/handler who turn up to Club training sessions with XL Bully dogs will be required to leave the training ground.

For the avoidance of doubt, we apply the latest Government published definition of an XL Bully dog when determining whether a dog is or is not an XL Bully. The decision of our Head Trainer(s) is final.
